It did not see it in the evening, and while I’m sure it’s quite attractive when it’s all lit up, I found it extremely satisfying to see in the daylight, and I feel that is the better time to appreciate its beauty and form, particularly with a deep blue sky in the background. The building is fitted with plenty of lights so that even at night it draws the eye. The central figure on the building, located above the main entrance, is a winged figure known as the Spirit of Energy that personifies electric lighting. It is located one block west of Clinton Square. The building, which was completed in 1932, was put on the National Register of Historic Places in June 2010. It is a magical blend of right angles, curves, colors, and various geometric designs. It is nothing short of stunning, and on a sunny day to see it glistening in the sunlight is a marvel to behold. Though you cannot go inside, the true magic of the place is experienced on the outside, where you can see a dazzling array of sculptured aluminum, steel, glass, and stonework. I had seen pictures of the building when I was planning our trip, and I was so struck by it that I put it on our must-see list.
